The purpose of FISH (Fund for Indian Subcontinent Heritage) Philanthropy is to improve the lives of the underserved population in the Central Valley of California, including those of South Asian heritage. FISH Philanthropy collaborates with local non-profit organizations to create awareness of current needs and works toward bringing positive changes in the community.
Since inception, members of FISH Philanthropy have focused their efforts on the fight against domestic violence, a universal challenge that affects families regardless of race, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. However, strong cultural pressures prevent victims from reporting acts of domestic violence which are kept ‘‘behind closed doors.’’ Unreported incidents result in increased suffering, especially among children. Through education, awareness, and by providing support, we can break the cyclical behavior of violence from continuing generation to generation.
In an effort to help victims of domestic violence, FISH has joined hands with the Central Valley Community Foundation to support the Marjaree Mason Center (MMC) by organizing a fundraiser “Gala in the Garden”. Proceeds from the event will provide financial assistance to MMC, a local non-profit organization which supports the mission and goals of FISH. MMC provides shelter, support, and education to victims of domestic violence including those of South Asian heritage.
Your generous donations and support will provide a safe haven to victims of domestic violence and their families along with an opportunity for a fresh start in life.
