2pm-4pm: Move inside for entertainment, speakers, announcements, art silent auction, and raffles!
One could say there is a big parallel between trans-ness and treatment by society, and how there are «weeds» and «pretty plants.» There is beauty in everything, but only certain things are deemed acceptable and beautiful by society, and the rest gets pulled out and destroyed, like how trans people have been ostracized and snuffed out. There's this movement in cities to reclassify «weeds» as «spontaneous urban plants».
The plants are beautiful, but not the kind of beautiful we are used to seeing. But they are no less valuable than the average chrysanthemum or rose bush. These plants thrive in environments where other plants cannot grow. They push up through asphalt, they grow between pavers, they sprout without water, without soil, without sunlight. They are denied the things they need to grow, but they grow regardless, and are resilient and beautiful and strong.
We think that's exactly how trans people have had to become: resilient and strong, showing our beauty despite a world that would have us conform and destroy what makes us unique and amazing.
